Iv mentioned him before. Andriano is not only a journalist, but an author. Heres a cut-out I quite like..

"Drugs are natural. Cats crave catnip, pigs root for truffles. The American psychopharmacologist Ronald K. Siegel speaks of our need for intoxication as the "fourth drive" along with the need for food, sleep and sex. Intoxicated people do funny, weird and sometimes horrible things. They either re-invent the world or babble nonsense. They forget themselves - or their best friend. They have fantastic sex - or fall asleep. When people take drugs, they aren't necessarily doing it to be happier. They're following a natural drive to be different for a little while."

BERLIN

Well, ever since I found out I'll be moving to Berlin this summer to work as a Press Officer for a Berlin based fashion and lifestyle PR company, its become my hobby to look into the goings on of the city. I have found a little treat by a journalist and author named Adriano Sack. Having recently moved to Berlin, Adriano has set up the first user generated fashion magazine there is. Obviously the magazine is run by your usual stylists, editors and journalists, but the majority of the work is sent in my fashion contributors, picturing different styles from all over Europe. Take a look.....

Mayor Hawthorne

Mayor Hawthorne, why have I only just found you now? I recently came across this artist on my spotify, which I actually presumed was an accident until I asked my housemate if she had heard of him. She rightfully told me I was crazy and I had to take a listen, and I’m so glad I did.  I don’t understand why there isn’t more hype around this guy. He is a singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist with a talent for music. Raised in the 80’s , he grew up listening to hip-hop, and timeless classic motown tunes from the 60’s, which is really what his music is a mixture of. If you bare this in mind, and take a listen to his music, you wouldn’t believe he’s a white kid from Michigan. I’m hoping we will hear more from him over in the UK as he’s caught the eye (and ear's) of Gilles Peterson and producer/DJ Ranson.

Big fan of the dip-dye look?

Drew Barrymore started the look late last year as she attemped to grow out her bleach blonde locks, with the contrast of her darker roots kicking up a trend set to circulate. It is sure to be a short lived fad, but what the hell, all that needs asking is WHAT COLOUR?

Darling you, send me

I am far too excited for the release of Sam Cooke's biographical film that's set to be released later this year. I need a date. I imagine it to be like Ray, dare I say better actually. To me Sam Cooke is the most talented soul man of all time, yet quite nicely under recognised.  Its going to be a brilliant film and I want to watch it right now. Until then spotify will just have to do.

Three favourites

My top three favourite films are Amelie, Love Me If You Dare and...Sister Act II!! Not your typical choice there but a film with Whoopi Goldberg and Lauryn Hill? I don't think you can go wrong.
These are guilty pleasures which I could watch back to back all day, quite easily. The beautiful ladies Audrey Tatou, Marion Cotillard and Lauryn Hill make the films in my opinion.
I love the film Amelie because its a bit of an emotional roller coaster ride. It's a story which touches on unrequited love, comfortable loneliness, visual wonder, and imaginary worlds.
Love Me If You Dare is quite like a sequel to Amelie, in that its a french love story which runs quite frequently in make believe worlds, however its a much darker love story. It's a romantic comedy, but, unlike most genre entries, this one explores love not as a redemptive force, but as a potentially destructive one.
On to Sister Act II. Its bad acting, its a rubbish story line, BUT Whoopi Goldberg is the funniest loveliest actress and character so thats why this film is in my top three. Lauryn Hill singing is always a win aswell.

Reminiscent of Barcelona

My trip to Spain last summer was my favorite holiday of all time. Barcelona especially, is such a beautiful and diverse city. I haven't been on holiday since. I can't really complain though because in nine month's time I'll be on my way to Chile in South America. SHABBAH. Here are some pictures from last summer.

Placement work

Last year I was asked to interview the soul genius, Aloe Blacc while working at my placement. Although he's super talented and admittedly has a nice face, he was arrogant as hell. I went down during sound check, and was greeted with a "Maaan I hate doing interview's"...considering this was the first time I'd ever interviewed someone, he did nothing to alleviate my jitterbugs. The interview then went on to me forgetting to press the record button on my dictaphone. Nightmare. Anyway, lesson learnt. That was my first interview. I  was still able to put together a good article and have since been asked to interview Joy Orbison and Nina Kraviz so, not bad really.
Here's a clip of Mr Blacc on the Jools Holland show.

Well...

My friend recently started a blog displaying her work as a young fashion designer, and I like how it's used not only to display work, but more like a journal of day to day going's on and sharing interests. This is my blog, I'm a 20 year old PR student at Leeds Metropolitan University. One day I hope to be some PR guru, freelancing my way around the world, but right now I'm enjoying learning more about the deep and diverse world of PR, as well as havin'a riight good time being a student in Leeds.

As I don't know what else to write, here's a link to my favourite song of all time.
